The last weekend in November saw 27 swimmers from the club heading to the Gloucester GL1 Pool for the Soundwell SC Level 3 County Qualifier meet. With many of our younger swimmers in attendance, some for their first open meet, the weekend was full of nervous anticipation. Needless to say the nerves were soon dispelled with some fantastic swimming resulting in 30 medal places, 13 of which were Gold and overall an incredible 84 Pb swim’s.
Abi Butters led the way for the girls with 8 pb’s closely followed by Georgie Lloyd, Katie Pellow and Sinead Todd with 6 each. Ed Aris had a hat trick with a pb in all 8 of his swims closely followed by Ben Rawlins with pb’s in 6 of his swims. Some swam so well they fell foul of the “speed trap” and were issued “Speeding Tickets” for being too fast, Ben Rawlins and Arno Turner calling it draw with 5 tickets each.
Topping things off we had two club records broken with Ben Rawlins taking the 14 yr old Boys 400m IM title and Henry Bennett beating his previous record for the 13yr old Boys 200m Fly.
A brilliant reward for all the hard training put in since our return in September.
Once again thank you to all the helpers and volunteers who gave up their time to look after our swimmers.
