Jess Shaw, 17, represented Southwold at the ASA Winter National Meet in Sheffield earlier on this month. During the season she managed to obtain 7 qualifying times and decided to swim 6 of them at the event (50,100 BK 50,100 BRS, 100,200 IM). Over the course of the three days she swam close to her pbs in most events apart from the 200IM where she had a bit of a mare. She managed to qualify 10th in the 100IM just gaining her a place in the A final later in the afternoon where she then also finished 10th. She also finished 17th in the 100BRS qualifying for the B final. The event featured many famous faces from the likes of Chris Walker-Hebborn to Jazz Carlin and Lauren Quigley so the competition was always going to be tough. Since its an open age group event Jess was very pleased to make a final in 2events and hopes to better it next year when she moves onto University. Jess would like to say a very big thankyou to Simon for supporting her for the 3 days that they were there and generally during training and at competitions.
