So that’s it ... the 2016 “Blocks” are all over and it is still only March ... for those who have swum their first County Championships in previous years the competition has run on through to the
end of March!
Our final weekend saw another round of brilliant swims both in the individual racing on Saturday and Relay racing on Sunday.
Saturday brought another 34 individual Pb swims and 12 medal places, with Jess Shaw from the senior swimmers continuing to put her stamp firmly on the championships bringing her tally
of wins to a total of 11. Our younger swimmers performed well with Jess Hawkins, Abi Matthews, Abi Butters and Sophie Noble leading the way among the 12 year old girls, and Cody Farrell
from the boys, all with strong Pb swims.
Sunday saw a brilliant day of Relay racing, Southwold struggled slightly due lack of teams but our swimmers still gave a fantastic performance reaching 17 finals overall and coming away
with 5 podium finishes in the top 3 places. The star performers were the Girls 10 & Over (Open) Medley team who took 1st place, swimming their final 3 secs faster than the heat.
The Girls 10 & Over Freestyle team similarly fought hard knocking 5 secs off their qualifying time in the final but they were pushed into second place this time by a dominant Gloucester City SC.
In the championships overall, both Individual and Relays, Southwold came 4th in the combined boys and girls points table, with the girls coming 3rd overall and the boys 7th , the latter
result mainly due to our lack of boys/boys teams in the relays.
Below for further information are the final Points Tables, Medals Tables, 2016 County Best Times and 2016 Trophy Winners.
Simon our Head Coach is justifiably proud of all our swimmers and their performance with the results (over 200 Pb swims) showing the benefits from all the hard work and training.
